Do you actually need a trust? An honest answer.
Most families don't. Some absolutely do. The three questions that tell you which one you are.
Do you own real estate in more than one state. Do you have a beneficiary who can't or shouldn't inherit outright — a minor, someone with special needs, someone in a fragile marriage. Is your estate large enough that estate tax is a real question in your state.
One 'yes' probably means a trust. Zero 'yes' answers usually means a solid will, updated beneficiaries, and a health-care directive are the whole plan.
